William(Wil) Robar, DO, DiMM, DiDMM

Dr. Wil Robar has always loved the outdoors and finding out what is over that next hill.  He grew up in a family that loved the outdoors and was lucky enough to be part of a Boy Scout troop that had monthly camping trips/adventures. The majority of his family vacations were piling into the family van and driving to a new backpacking destinations. This firmly instilled the foundations of his love of travel and the outdoor world. He was born out west, but his family moved to the Midwest as his Dad transitioned his career.  Wil’s desire was to head back west for college so he ended up at Colorado State University and wound his way through several different jobs after graduating.  He was a systems engineer for Budweiser before “tiring” of corporate life and heading to Thailand where he became a PADI dive instructor.  In an effort to continue his explorations, he worked for a hot air balloon tour company in Europe, as a divemaster on a liveaboard dive boat in the Caribbean, as a commercial salmon fisherman in Alaska, and spent nearly a year traveling through central and south America. Along the way he continued to explore the outdoor world at every opportunity.

He eventually realized “he should do something with is life” and went back to school to become an emergency medicine physician with an interest in wilderness medicine.  Wil has also completed the DiMM and DiDMM through the Wilderness Medical Society and has participated in multiple trips with the WMS and now Wild Med.  He has had the opportunity to climb peaks in Nepal, South America and Africa along with many of the fourteeners(and others) throughout the US.  He is also a US National Parks junkie!  He continues to dive regularly in Asia, the Americas, and the Red Sea amassing approximately 600+ dives.  Wil has always enjoyed teaching and helping others explore and experience the outdoor world in all its multitude of forms.  We are excited to have Wil join our Wild Med Family Team of instructors and share his expertise and love for travel with our clients.
