CROATIA OFF-ROAD ADVENTURE

  • Novice to Expert: Ride tailored to your experience; Dirt Bike or 4-wheeled ATV/Buggy

  • On this 8 day adventure tour with 6 days of riding, we’ll experience the beauty of Croatia riding along the Adriatic Sea. A tour on which we cross the peninsula of Istria for 6 days and visit the Island of Res. We stay in 2 different hotels, the luggage is transported between the hotels. The tour is an authentic Mediterranean experience. We have preselected the tracks so that they can be experienced by riders of all ability levels. This terrain is ideal for beginners and less experienced riders. Our guides have a message for the more skilled riders amongst you: “be warned, we’ve got a few tricky trails lined up for you that will set your pulse racing !” The base of this tour is the amazing little town of Novigrad. For those who would like to bring a significant other who isn’t into riding, they will have many options to entertain them while the others ride including the local SPA, taking an excursion to nice KuK town of Opatija and Rijeka, shopping/tourist excursion to Italy to the outlet center of Palmanova, beautiful walking trails along the sea, hike to a nearby cave with hiking guide, or take a boat excursion to the Limski Fjord with dinner on the boat. There are many options for those who would like to attend and not ride: Shopping in Italy, Excursion to KuK town Opatija and Rijeka, Spa days, Hiking to Cave in nearby towns with hiking guide, Boat excursion to the Limski Fjord with dinner cruise and more.

ITINERARY:

  • Day 1 (Oct. 9th) – Arrive at Triest Airport and transfer to Novigrad (approx. 1.15 hours)

    • Dinner and Welcome by Wild Med Instructors, tour manager, briefing and introductions

  • Day 2 (Oct. 10th) – Riding Day 1

    • 9:30am: Hand over of motorbikes/buggy and short briefing

    • 10:00am - 17:00: All Day Guided Tour around Novigrad (Lunch on the way)

    • Dinner / Lectures

  • Day 3 (Oct. 11th) – Riding Day 2

    • 8:30am: Briefing

    • 9:00 - 17:00: Stage 1 of Island Ride, crossing Istria to the south. Lunch on the way at the fish restaurant at the Limski Fjord. Overnight in Rabac. Luggage Transported in support van.

    • Dinner & Lectures together at Hotel

  • Day 4 (Oct. 12th) – Riding Day 3

    • 7:30am: Briefing

    • 8:00 - 14:00: Stage 2 of the Island Ride, visit of the Island of Res. Catch Ferry Boat at 8:30am. Lunch along the way.

    • Afternoon free for trainings / SPA; Dinner & Overnight in Ribac

  • Day 5 (Oct. 13th) – Riding Day 4

    • 9:00 Briefing

    • 9:30 - 18:00: Stage 3 of the Island Ride back to Novigrad crossing Istria. Lunch along the way.

    • Overnight in Novigrad. Dinner and Lectures Together

  • Day 6 (Oct. 14th) - Riding Day 5

    • 9:30: Briefing

    • 10:00 - 14:30: Guided Half-Day Tour round NOvigrad

    • Overnight in Novigrad. Dinner and Lectures Together.

  • Day 7 (Oct. 15th) - Riding Day 6

    • 10:00: Briefing

    • 10:30 - 16:00: Guided Half-Day Tour into the Mirna Valley. Lunch on the way. Motorbike/Buggy washing after return form the tour.

    • Overnight in Novigrad with Final Dinner & Wrap-up.

  • Day 8 (Oct. 16th) - Departure

    • Hotel Check-out (until 12pm), transfers to Airport

ATTENDING THIS COURSE YOU WILL:

  • Learn the latest wilderness medical skills for patient assessment, stabilization and evacuation.

  • Practice your skills while enjoying a true wilderness adventure in the backcountry

  • Work with our expert faculty and local Off-Road guides with over 20 years experience to develop your knowledge and awareness regarding dirt biking and motorcycle injuries

  • Obtain up to 10 hours of CME and Fellowship credits from the Wilderness Medical Society towards your FAWM

  • Our program focuses on treatment of the most common injuries and illnesses encountered while in the back-country.

CERTIFICATION:

  • 12 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits and WMS FAWM Credits

  • “This course has been approved for Fellowship in the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM) credits

    through the Wilderness Medical Society. Actual credits awarded depend on personal credit needs and history.”

  • Motorcycle License NOT required, but some riding experience on 2-wheels is recommended for Dirt Bike Option

THE  TEAM / FACULTY:

  • The riding logistics and leadership will be provided by extremely experienced guides from Ride X Power, whose team members have a wealth of knowledge and experience.

  • The Wild Med Adventures Team are all well traveled and experienced and promise to make your CME experience both educational and informative, but please note that we are only responsible for the educational aspect of this trip and not the guided biking. We are NOT guides and are NOT responsible for the riding safety or proper gear.

TRIP INSURANCE:

  • Delegates should have personal insurance to cover any in-country medical examinations, treatment or rescue/evacuation as well as some form of trip insurance to cover missed flights, weather delays and other potential trip delays.

  • We do require Rescue Insurance for this trip and we recommend you purchase a plan via Global Rescue.

Non-Riding Partner/Friend/Spouse/Child: $2750 (Extra Activities Included - Shopping Day in Italy, Excursion to KuK town Opatija and Rijeka, Hiking Guide for Cave Excursion, Boat Excursion to Limski Fjord with Dinner Cruise) - Lunches are not included for non-riders as you will be out exploring on your own.

  • Cancellation Policy: Your deposit for the travel portion of the course is nonrefundable (unless we must cancel due to COVID). The entire balance of your trip fee and CME fee will be due 90 days prior to departure. No deposits will be returned after payment unless for some reason course is cancelled. If you have not paid in full prior to 90 days before the start of the course a late fee of $250 will be applied to the final cost or you will lose your spot on our trip. There will be a full refund minus deposit up to 120 days prior to course. There will be a 50% refund minus deposit if cancelled within 90 days. No refunds if within 90 days of start of course.

MAIN EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

The goal of our Off-Road Adventure CME Conference is to provide participants with a unique environment to experience essential medically-related topics and learn new skills through lectures, hands on work-shops, training modules and Biking Excursions.

  • Development of this CME curriculum is formed by the following key objectives:

    • Provide educational opportunities based on core curriculum of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine.

    • Provide education of value to providers who care for the medical needs and also those involved with coordination of off roading-related educational activities, including medical providers who must educate and instruct rider safety with their patients.

    • Provide education of interest to wilderness and austere-activity enthusiasts.

  • After attending this conference, the participants will be able to:

    • Establish a set of treatment priorities for care of the sick or injured in remote settings.

    • Prevent, diagnose, and manage illnesses and injuries in austere environments.

    • Demonstrate increased knowledge and skill in recognizing and treating the most common illnesses and injuries encountered in remote environments, including medical kits, patient assessment, hemorrhage control, and orthopedic injuries.

    • Understand objective risk-assessment in wilderness environments from the perspective of the medical professional acting as a trip leader.

    • Understand the pathophysiology and management of acute emergencies related to remote environments and potential high velocity vehicular injuries.

    • Perform a pre-departure assessment of the participant’s pre-existing medical conditions and plan an appropriate medical kit & care.

  • The Wilderness Medical Society designates this educational activity for a maximum of 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Each physician should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
