Canadian Bear hunting: cme adventure

June 7 - JUNE 14th, 2026

"The trip of a lifetime"

ABOUT COMPASS:

Established in 2019, Compass Mountain Outfitters is owned and operated by Cassidy Caron, Tom Sallows and Brett Waller. Located in north-eastern British Columbia, the hunting territory extends 5000 sq kilometers and is home to 12 species of big game animals.

Their BC territory is vast covering 5000 square km’s / 3,000 square miles. Surrounded by provincial parks and untouched wilderness, the terrain ranges lush green moose swamps to glacier-crusted peaks stretching up over 9,000 feet elevation. Add on countless alpine lakes, pristine rivers and sunny mountain slopes, you won’t be lacking in scenery. Best of all, the limited access to the area allows us to maintain a population of some of the largest black bears in Canada — as well as many other animals.

Their amazing wilderness camps take the edge off the fierce wilderness that surrounds them. Base camp is located on a scenic lake and accessible by road. With WiFi, satellite tv, hot water on demand, showers, a professional cook, and private heated bunkhouses, it is the ideal place to unwind after your days of adventure in the field. Our out-post cabin camps are very cozy and strategically placed to get you in the heart of the hunting action.

This area has been known to produce monster trophies. Spring time is also a wonderful time to see the area and chase world class mountain black bears that consistently push the 6.5’-7’ mark. We take several B&C class specimens each season and this area is capable of producing the trophy of a lifetime in all categories.

BLACK BEAR HUNTS:

Want an action-packed spring adventure where you see tons of game and stay in awesome cozy camps? Our bear hunts are in mountain zones, where baiting isn’t allowed. We use the spot and stalk methods with the option to do a hound hunt. Our bears are big, averaging over 6 foot and we boast about 25% color phase. Enjoy the beautiful main camp during the spring hunts making this a great camp for small groups. Lake front cabins, great food and fishing with lounge areas to kick back with a cold one after a day of hunting. Black bear hunting is high success, you WILL see a bear and likely bag a big one. This is truly an adventure of a lifetime.

The BC Base camp is located on a scenic lake and accessible by road. With WiFi, satellite tv, hot water on demand, showers, a professional cook, and private heated bunkhouses, it is the ideal place to unwind after your days of adventure in the field.

You may also hunt from one of many of the outpost camps depending on season and conditions. While more rustic than base camp, these cabins are comfortable and well set up to keep you in the heart of the hunting action.

You may also be "spiking out". This means that you will be packing up your gear at base camp and heading out into the wilderness with your guide. Spike camps are composed wall tents or light-duty tents depending on the location of your camp. You will most likely not have internet connection at these locations unless you bring a satellite device. Weather can vary, although typical weather during this time can be between 0 degrees - 15 degrees Celsius. Be sure to check out our FAQs.
