Leah Manchester, MD, FAWM, DiMM
Leah Manchester is an emergency medicine physician in western MA. She grew up in central MA however took a nontraditional path prior to medical school, spending a year backpacking around the world, during which she worked at a ski resort in New Zealand, scuba dived off the coast of Thailand, trekked through the Gobi Desert of Mongolia, and took a polar plunge in Lake Baikal, Siberia. She is currently an active member and medical director for a local ski patrol, where she has been teaching low angle rope rescue techniques. She completed her wilderness medicine fellowship along with her FAWM and Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DiMM) in 2021, and now runs the wilderness medicine fellowship at Baystate Medical Center. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, rock climbing, scuba diving, and kayaking. She nerds out over wilderness toxicology and rope rigging systems, and loves to share her interest in the outdoors with everyone she meets.
