Christanne Coffey, MD, FACEP, DiDMM, FAWM

Christanne grew up in South Carolina spending weekends and summers at the lake and beach. She decided to try out the West coast for her emergency medicine residency in San Diego and never left. She was the inaugural fellow in wildness medicine at UC San Diego.  She is an Associate Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of California San Diego, where she serves as the wilderness medicine fellowship director and course director of two wilderness medicine student courses.

She is the medical director for the San Diego Mountain Rescue Team and active member of the Wilderness Medical Society (WMS). During Christanne’s time as chair of the WMS Diploma in Diving and Marine Medicine (DiDMM) committee she helped lead the redesign of the DiDMM curriculum, an international certification program in the essentials of caring for patients in the marine environment. Her interests include marine medicine, diving medicine, women's health, wilderness medicine education, and extreme sports. In her free time, Christanne enjoys hiking, cycling, scuba diving, stand up paddle surfing and spending time outdoors with her husband and two young children. Christanne loves to connect with new people and hopes to meet you on a future Wild Med trip!
