  • Join our 5 night/ 4 Day Mountain Biking CME course in Moab, UT

  • Novice to Expert: Ride tailored to your experience; 6:1 Rider to Guide,

  • On this 5 Night/ 4 day adventure tour we’ll experience the deepness of the Utah landscape and the beauty of the surrounding canyons and desert. Leave the planning to us and sit back and enjoy some epic mountain biking. We will arrange all the details - riding, rental bikes, guides, food & lodging.

  • Follow one of the local Guides for the most FUN lines on the famous Whole Enchilada or Magnificent 7 Trails! We have arranged Private Shuttles that will take you to the top of these trail systems for the ride of your life. Our trips include a Carbon Full Suspension MTB + helmet, all food, lots of ride time, a vehicle cached at the bottom of the trail with cold drinks and a BICP Certified MTB Guide/Instructors. These Private EPIC Rides in Moab will be offered to our attendees and also based on rider ability.

ATTENDING THIS COURSE YOU WILL:

  • Learn the latest wilderness medical skills for patient assessment, stabilization and evacuation.

  • Practice your skills while enjoying a true wilderness adventure in the backcountry

  • Work with our expert faculty and local Mountain Biking guides with loads of experience to develop your knowledge and awareness regarding biking and backcountry injuries

  • Obtain up to 12 hours of CME and Fellowship credits from the Wilderness Medical Society towards your FAWM

  • Our program focuses on treatment of the most common injuries and illnesses encountered while in the back-country.

CERTIFICATION:

  • 12 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits and WMS FAWM Credits

  • Mountain Biking Experience Required - Intermediate to Expert Rides

    • (We will split group based on ability but to enjoy this conference you need Mountain Biking Experience)

THE  TEAM / FACULTY:

  • The riding logistics and leadership will be provided by extremely experienced guides from Moab whose team members have a wealth of knowledge and experience.

  • The Wild Med Adventures Team are all well traveled and experienced and promise to make your CME experience both educational and informative, but please note that we are only responsible for the educational aspect of this trip and not the guided biking. For more information regarding our instructor's background - please see BIO's for instructor information. Instructors may change depending on availability. We are NOT guides and are NOT responsible for the riding safety or proper gear.

TRIP INSURANCE:

  • Delegates should have personal insurance to cover any in-country medical examinations, treatment or rescue/evacuation as well as some form of trip insurance to cover missed flights, weather delays and other potential trip delays.

  • We do require Rescue Insurance for this trip and we recommend you purchase a plan via Global Rescue.

***Please note: Full payment due within 90 days of start of course or a $250 fee will be added to your final cost OR we have the right to cancel your trip without refund**

  • Cancellation Policy: Your deposit for the travel portion of the course is nonrefundable (unless WILD MED must cancel due to unforeseen issues). Flights will not be reimbursed regardless of cancellation reason so please buy refundable or amendable tickets. The entire balance of your trip fee and CME fee will be due 90 days prior to departure. No deposits will be returned after payment unless for some reason course is cancelled. If you have not paid in full prior to 90 days before the start of the course a late fee of $250 will be automatically applied to your final invoice or you will lose your spot on our trip. There will be a full refund minus deposit up to 120 days prior to course. There will be a 50% refund minus deposit if cancelled within 90 days. No refunds if within 90 days of start of course.

MAIN EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

The goal of our Off-Road Adventure CME Conference is to provide participants with a unique environment to experience essential medically-related topics and learn new skills through lectures, hands on work-shops, training modules and Biking Excursions.

  • Development of this CME curriculum is formed by the following key objectives:

    • Provide educational opportunities based on core curriculum of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine.

    • Provide education of value to providers who care for the medical needs and also those involved with coordination of off roading-related educational activities, including medical providers who must educate and instruct rider safety with their patients.

    • Provide education of interest to wilderness and austere-activity enthusiasts.

  • After attending this conference, the participants will be able to:

    • Establish a set of treatment priorities for care of the sick or injured in remote settings.

    • Prevent, diagnose, and manage illnesses and injuries in austere environments.

    • Demonstrate increased knowledge and skill in recognizing and treating the most common illnesses and injuries encountered in remote environments, including medical kits, patient assessment, hemorrhage control, and orthopedic injuries.

    • Understand objective risk-assessment in wilderness environments from the perspective of the medical professional acting as a trip leader.

    • Understand the pathophysiology and management of acute emergencies related to remote environments and potential high velocity vehicular injuries.

    • Perform a pre-departure assessment of the participant’s pre-existing medical conditions and plan an appropriate medical kit & care.

The Wilderness Medical Society is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

  • The Wilderness Medical Society designates this educational activity for a maximum of 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Each physician should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

  • All educational content presented in this activity has been reviewed and validated as appropriate in keeping with sound scientific principles.
