Dr. Maryrose D. Chuidian, Boom, is a flight physician with the United States Air Force currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan.  For the past five years she has worked for the special operations group and has been deployed numerous times.  As a flight doc she has been able to combine her love of wilderness and travel medicine, working these past several years in every type of austere environment out there.  Her last “traditional” job in a ‘hospital’ setting was in 2009, when she completed her intern year.  Since then she has had the privilege of supporting our fighting men and women in remote locations all over the globe.

In 2013, Boom was able to participate in a tropical medicine course in Thailand, where she cared for displaced Burmese refugees living in a trash dump. Along with two medics, they brought basic health care needs to 100 refugees and educated the group on sanitation, water filtration and hygiene.  She also assisted with evacuation and aid to the Philippines after the devastating super typhoon hit the islands in late November.  In 2014 Boom was the first female to ever go through and complete a jungle survival course in Malaysia, both as a student and as the sole medical provider for the course.

Boom enjoys simply being outdoors.  Her favorite activities include hiking, climbing, mountain biking, backpacking, snowboarding and Crossfit.  This upcoming year she will be taking a break from operational medicine and heading to the east coast to complete her Family Practice Residency and FAWM.
